And the Oscar Goes To...

All of the delicate, floor sweeping, beaded gowns. Simply flawless.
Maybe if my New Years Eve dress had been a little longer I could have sported it on the Oscar Red Carpet this year too.

Oh, and Meryl. Got to love her.

Rainy Daze

Weather or not they have been spotted in any collections this #nyfw, the concrete catwalk has solidified the "snood" trend. At first I was a little skeptical, but the moment I got caught in the rain with my freshly straightened hair completely unprotected, I stretched my deep purple infinity scarf to cover both my dampening (and quickly curling) hair and shivering neck. Who needs an umbrella anymore? I was hooked. It's the perfect amount of coverage and warmth for that quick, yet deathly 15 minute walk to class.

Snoody

Despite the convenience, style, and warmth, I am advocating a name change.  Headscarf Knit Infinity Wrap? Anything but snood.

Don't Do Your Homework,

DO IT YOURSELF!

Put down your copy of Saint Thomas Aquinas Politics and Ethics. Save your seven-page double spaced essay analyzing pre-Islamic Arabic poetry and quit out of Word.

Make this ring->bracelet mabobber!
Recycle broken jewelry!
Save the planet!
.......
Its simple, easy, and cost me a whopping Z3R0$$$$$$$$$D011LArZ

Supplies
-Pliers
-Ring
-Chains
-Beads

1. I started with some old necklace chains and a broken ring.
2. Simply find the broken link, or break one yourself, and reattach part of the chain to the ring.
3. Wrap the chain around your wrist to form a bracelet.
4. Attach the end of the chain connected to the ring to the bracelet.
5. Add beads!

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Popped balloons, dying roses, ripped cards. While the remnants from February 14th slowly fade away, I still look back on my first Valentine's experience in New York City fondly. A friend and I spent our night watching the Contemporary Rock Orchestra--a quirky, yet entertaining bunch--cover The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Quite fitting huh? Here is a little amateur vid I made of the show!

You may be single, but you are not alone. Just join the club.

A Single Girls Valentine's Day

So you wake up with a Smile, feeling like Miss Independent. You are a strong Independent Woman. You aren't like all those other Stupid Girls, so silly and lovestruck. They are Wannabes.

You and all the other Single Ladies in your life know that With A Little Help From My Friends, today is going to be about the power of singledom. You don't want No Scrubs anyway.

Plus, even if you went on a First Date today, you'd have to tell him "My Humps are mine, I ain't no Hollaback Girl".  No, it's not because you Kissed A Girl, it's just a matter of class. Lets not get desperate here...

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, but by the late afternoon its hard to find fun all by yourself while nursing a venti black coffee in Starbuck's cutsie Valentine's Day themed cups. Your Facebook newsfeed is overflowing with red and pink and roses and hearts.

You start to think back to your past flames thinking, "I Want You even though you hit it and quit it," or you begin imagining elaborate romantic declarations of devotion from the man you spent all your Summer Nights with. You see him running towards you in slow motion in the pouring rain and hear him shout "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend!"

But "Snap back to reality". You may be single, but you are not alone. So before you check into the Heartbreak Hotel, just remember that you may have 99 Problems this February 14th, but most likely, you also have a SexyBack.

Sweet

Emily Everhard, Josie Loren & Me
Emily Everhard, Kenton Duty & Me

Tell your friends, younger sisters, the kids you babysit, estranged second cousins, and those thirteen year old girls you see trying on waaayyyy too much makeup at Sephora to join Sweetyhigh! Or at least to go watch Food Star. More great recipes to come, as well as watching me and my sister act like nerds.

Can't Stop, Won't Stop

Listening to the Black Keys.

Rain (more like snow these days), shine, fast, slow--walking to class everyday has become a lot more enjoyable since last syncing my iPod. Maybe I'm late on the bandwagon since their new album El Camino released last year, but better fashionably late than missing the trend all together. Then again, I did already see them live at Coachella 2011. Thats why I decided not to go to either of the TWO Coachella weekends this year, despite their headlining status. Yeah. Thats why...

So I'm Also Dating This Other Guy...

His name is Strep.

The key to having a healthy relationship with Strep is,

1)  To make yourself a unique, only-appetizing-when-living-in-a-college-dorm-room meal of rice, chow mein, chicken broth, and teriyaki sauce soup.

2) To do your homework. That is, if your homework is watching every Ryan Gosling movie available on Netflix instant watch. Especially Drive. Or just read these all day.

3) To take your antibiotic cocktail and go to bed. Also, try not to think about how you are missing karaoke night at Brother Jimmy's, Strep may get jealous.
